About Us

Laika ( combines simple software with expert support to help SaaS companies manage security compliance, security audits, and enterprise procurement security diligence. We help companies design stage-appropriate controls, obtain infosec certifications/audits, stay compliant with regulations, and build trust with enterprise customers for whom security is a fundamental “must have” requirement.

Laika is based in New York City and was founded in May 2019. We have received investment from top VCs, including Canapi Ventures, Bain Capital, Third Prime, and Nyca Partners. We raised $10M Series A in Aug 2020, and we’re growing customers and revenue like crazy.

About The Role

Imagine you're an entrepreneur bootstrapping your way through the early stages of your new venture. So far, you found the right opportunity, developed a viable business model, attracted resources to actually start your venture, and managed the initial phase of operations. Now, you need to close a deal with an enterprise customer to keep the lights on, but they're asking to see your SOC 2 before moving forward. Frantic, you Google "What is a SOC 2?" A click-hole of esoteric language describing drawn-out processes ensues. That's the problem we're taking on at Laika, and we have a huge set of thought-provoking challenges waiting to be solved by an intellectually curious, self-starter with a strong bias towards action, great taste, and an ability to deeply understand the people you're designing for.

What You'll Do

You'll lead the solution of a product area. You'll lead in the presentation and discussion of the design approach and solution with stakeholders. You'll lead in the thoughtful critique of design work from peers. You’ll apply your expertise in all facets of UX design to craft appealing solutions that solve real problems and are cohesive with the current style. You'll apply strategic thinking to design and deliver innovative end-to-end user experiences that optimize user needs, business goals, and technological realities. You'll partner with product and customer experience teams to uncover customer insights, lead design discussions, and influence strategy to help define and execute the product roadmap. You'll help build, circulate, and maintain systems documentation that apply across product lines. You'll turn visions into concepts and translate those concepts into development-ready designs that illustrate simplicity, despite the complexity of the domain. You'll collaborate closely with our product and engineering teams to define features and ensure pixel-perfect execution. Qualifications

You have knowledge and experience with driving and applying user-centered design processes while working collaboratively with customers, along with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, and Customer Experience. 5-10 years if relevant work experience You have experience designing for measurable outcomes including the ability to participate in both generative and evaluative user research. You are proficient in a variety of methods to explore and convey ideas and concepts at the appropriate degrees of fidelity (e.g. storyboards, wireframes, prototypes, etc.) You have an appreciation for urgency over perfection and can balance craft and speed. You have expertise with design tools like Figma (preferred), Sketch, inVision, Adobe XD, etc. and are skilled in creating prototypes to share with users in a fast, iterative manner. Experience with SaaS and familiarity with Agile development processes A portfolio of relevant design work is required for consideration. It should show how you contributed to solving specific problems and demonstrate an understanding of design principles, advocacy for the user, analytical decision-making, and strategic thinking.

Your Salary:
